Meet My Dog Pal. Our CEO would like a treat.
Little M and Big Papa Hig · 26 September 2026

My Dog Pal started in the least dramatic way possible.
There was no whiteboard session, no grand business plan, and definitely no moment where Teddy sat us down and explained the product vision. He was much more interested in breakfast.
It started because we kept noticing small things about him and then forgetting exactly when they had happened.
One morning, breakfast did not excite him as much as usual. Another night, he had been restless. A few days later we found ourselves saying, “Was that Tuesday or Wednesday?” and then scrolling back through photos and messages trying to piece it together.
Anyone who lives with a dog will know that feeling.
You notice everything because you care, but life is busy and the small details blur together. What did they eat that day? Was their energy lower than normal? When did that behaviour first start? Did you already mention it to the vet, or did you only mean to?
We wanted one simple place to keep those ordinary details together.
That became My Dog Pal.
Teddy, naturally, has a slightly different interpretation of events. He believes the app exists because Little M became unreasonably interested in documenting his snacks. There have been strong objections from the executive office regarding treat transparency, but so far management has held its ground.
The real idea behind the app is much simpler.
Most dog care happens on completely ordinary days.
A dog eats breakfast, goes for a walk, sleeps in a ridiculous position, drinks some water, gets excited because somebody touched a cheese wrapper, then goes back to sleep as though nothing has happened.
Those ordinary days matter because they give you context. They are what help you notice when something changes.
So My Dog Pal lets you record the everyday things that are easy to forget: appetite, energy, sleep, water, meals, treats, weight, walks, routines, photos and anything else you want to remember.
You do not have to fill in everything. If you did not record something on Wednesday, Wednesday stays blank. The app does not invent an answer simply because a chart would look prettier with one there.
That matters to us.
We also wanted it to be useful when you need to look back.
Sometimes the most helpful question is not “What is wrong?” but “When did this start?”
That can be surprisingly hard to answer from memory.
My Dog Pal gives you a place to keep notes, care history and medical information together, so when you want to discuss something with your vet, you have a clearer record of what you actually observed.
It is not there to diagnose your dog and it does not replace your vet.
It is simply there to help you remember.
Which, in our household, already puts it ahead of at least one member of management.
The app also needed room for the part of dog life that has nothing to do with records.
Because living with a dog is not just meals, walks and weight charts.
It is also the photo of them asleep with their face pressed into the sofa. The walk where they refused to move because one particular smell apparently required a full investigation. The completely unnecessary fiftieth photo of them doing exactly the same thing as the previous forty-nine.
So My Dog Pal also includes space for photos, Stories and the little moments you actually want to keep.
And yes, Teddy is all over it.
Not because we sat in a branding meeting and decided the app needed a cute mascot.
Because this whole thing exists because of him.
There is a real dog behind the drawings, stickers and little face you see in the app. His name is Teddy, although when Little M first found him online, the ad said “Willie Needs a Home.”
He now has a home, two full-time members of staff, his own Instagram account and a job title he absolutely did not earn.
CEO.
Chief Eating Operator.
If you want to meet the real Teddy, you can find him at @itsteddybearthedog.

Teddy considers both accounts his.
We have stopped arguing.
My Dog Pal is currently in private beta, and we are welcoming iPhone and Android testers while we continue improving the app.
The beta is free, and what we really want at this stage is honest feedback from people who actually live with dogs.
What feels useful?
What feels annoying?
What do you keep forgetting?
What would make caring for your dog a little easier without making it feel like another job?
That is the whole point.
We are not trying to turn dog care into more admin.
We are trying to make the admin disappear quietly into the background, so you can spend more time doing the part that matters.
Living with them.
Watching them.
Walking with them.
Taking far too many photos of them.
And, if your dog happens to be Teddy, being reminded that the treat section remains under executive review.
Welcome to My Dog Pal.
