My Dog Pal is a dog-care organiser designed to keep care information on your device unless you deliberately use a sharing, cloud or contribution feature. Everyday care does not require an account. Family & carers is marked Coming soon in the current release. The conditional cloud and Family sections below also cover previously configured beta builds; unconfigured features remain unavailable.
Who operates My Dog Pal
My Dog Pal is operated by Box Of Frogs LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. Box Of Frogs LLC is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
Information stored on your device
My Dog Pal stores the pet profiles, selected photos, routines, care and walk logs, reminders, weight history, check-ins, health records, Family board and settings you add locally on your device. Local use does not require an account.
My Dog Pal does not send this information to its service merely because you enter it. Information may leave the device when you look up a food barcode, deliberately enable a configured encrypted Family or private cloud backup feature, contribute a food product, or use an export or system share action. Saved-entry search runs locally; its queries and index are not uploaded.
Website and beta applications
If you request beta access on this website, we collect the name, email address, iPhone and iOS details, number of dogs, selected interests, optional note and communication choice that you submit. We use these details to assess and manage your beta request, contact you about a TestFlight place and, only if you choose it, send beta and launch news.
The website is delivered through Cloudflare. Beta applications are delivered through Resend to our Google Workspace inbox; the website does not save the form submission in its own database. These providers process the limited technical and message-delivery data needed to provide and protect their services. We keep application emails only as long as needed to manage the beta, respond to you and meet applicable legal obligations. You can opt out of updates or ask us to delete your beta application by emailing the address below.
Optional encrypted Family sharing
In previously configured Family beta builds, invited testers may use an emailed verification code to create or join a shared care household. This feature is unavailable in the current release. In those builds, the app encrypts the household name, member display names, shared pet name and colour theme, care tasks, weekly rotas, change requests and task completions on the device before upload. Medical documents, health-record photos, check-ins, walk routes and weight history are not part of Family sync.
The service stores that ciphertext plus the minimum account, membership, security and delivery data needed to operate sharing. This includes the account email, internal identifiers, roles and access status, key versions, encrypted key envelopes, sync cursors, timestamps and hashed security values. Limited network information is processed in one-way form for authentication security, rate limiting and abuse prevention.
My Dog Pal cannot read the encrypted Family wording or recover a lost household key. A new phone must be approved by the household owner before it receives that key. Removing a member revokes that membership and its paired devices.
Optional private cloud backup
When private cloud backup is available in a beta build, the app encrypts the complete backup on your device before upload. The service stores the encrypted object and limited account and backup metadata, including the account email, internal identifiers, encrypted size, format and app versions, creation time and ciphertext digest.
My Dog Pal never receives the 12-word recovery phrase, derived encryption key or plaintext care records. We cannot decrypt or reset the backup. Losing the recovery phrase and every trusted device can make the backup permanently unrecoverable.
Food barcode lookup
When you scan or enter a food or treat barcode to look up product details, My Dog Pal may send the barcode to its configured catalogue service, Open Pet Food Facts or Open Food Facts. The receiving service also receives normal connection information, including your IP address. Open Pet Food Facts and Open Food Facts also receive an app-identifying request header. The lookup request does not include your pet profile, feeding history, notes, photos or owner contact details.
These lookups can occur even when catalogue contribution and cloud features are unavailable or switched off. A lookup is separate from choosing to contribute a product. You can enter product details manually instead. The external lookup services handle request data under their own privacy practices.
Optional food catalogue contributions
If catalogue contribution is available and you choose to submit a missing product, we may receive its barcode, product name, brand, confirmed packet nutrition and selected packaging photos for review. Contribution is off by default. Pet profiles, feeding history, notes, location and owner contact details are not included with a submission.
Pending submissions and photos are private to catalogue reviewers. Approved product information may be shown to other My Dog Pal users. You can save and use a product privately without contributing it.
Location, motion, notifications, photos and calendar
Location and motion information used during a walk is stored with the walk on your device. It is not part of Family sync, but it can be included when you create a local export or enable a full encrypted cloud backup. You choose the destination when sharing a route, backup, record or Vet Visit Pack.
Notifications are scheduled on your device after you enable them. Optional calendar mirroring writes the schedules you select to a My Dog Pal calendar on the device; the app does not import your personal calendar events. The app opens the system photo picker, document picker or camera only when you choose the relevant action. Selected pet photos, health-record images and PDF records are copied into the app's private storage. Packaging photos are uploaded only when you explicitly enable catalogue contribution while saving that product.
Analytics, advertising and tracking
The current release does not include third-party advertising, cross-app tracking or an analytics SDK. My Dog Pal does not sell personal information.
Retention, deletion and your choices
Local care information remains on your device until you use Delete all local data, clear the app's data or remove the app. Local deletion does not itself delete remote Family or backup data.
Where a build exposes private cloud controls, you can use them to delete the encrypted backup or cloud account. For an invited beta build without those controls, contact us to request deletion of remote account, Family or beta-application data. Do not send an authentication code, invitation link, recovery phrase, medical record or pet photo by email.
Children and veterinary information
My Dog Pal is managed by an adult dog owner and is not presented as a children's app. The current beta does not provide account-free child-device enrolment or use child-related information for advertising, analytics, profiling or tracking.
My Dog Pal organises information entered by the user. It does not provide medical or veterinary diagnosis, treatment or emergency services.
Changes
We may update this policy when features or data practices change. The date above will change when we make a material update.
